Kermit SPC Flooring Care: Cleaning, Protection and Repair Enquiries
Care for Kermit SPC flooring with delivery checks, damp cleaning, suitable furniture protection and a clear record for damage or repair enquiries.

Kermit's routine care method is a damp cloth or mop with a suitable mild cleaner. Protect the surface from furniture movement, avoid standing water and keep the product details available if help is needed. A useful maintenance plan begins at delivery and stays with the floor when the installer hands the space over.
This guide follows Kermit's English installation and care manual. Use the applicable product instructions and agreed order documents for your installation. A care guide does not establish a warranty term or decide whether a particular concern is covered.
Check the delivery before fitting starts
Match the delivery to the order: collection, decor, specification, quantity and carton labels. Photograph labels clearly and keep them with the invoice or order reference. Inspect the packaging and panels for transport damage and visible imperfections before installation.
The manual asks installers to continue checking panels in daylight during fitting. Do not install a visibly defective panel and expect the concern to be resolved later without assessment. Set the affected material aside, retain its label and contact the supplier with photographs and the order details.
Use one production batch where possible. Kermit's manual does not guarantee a shade match between batches and recommends mixing suitable panels from packs for a balanced pattern. Check the overall appearance before a large area is completed. A physical sample and a decor code are helpful references, but batch identity still belongs in the installation record.
Make the daily cleaning method clear
Use a damp cloth or mop and a mild cleaner suitable for the floor, following the cleaner's instructions as well as Kermit's guidance. Keep cleaning equipment clean and avoid carrying loose dirt across the surface. For a product not already confirmed as suitable, ask the supplier before applying it over the whole room.
Do not hose the floor down or leave standing water. Attend to spills promptly and address any continuing source, such as an appliance leak, rather than repeatedly cleaning around it. A water-resistant plank does not remove the need to protect the surrounding construction or to follow the room-use limits.
Give the cleaning team a short written note naming the agreed cleaner and method. In a managed property, place the same information in the occupant's handover pack. This avoids a change of staff or tenant silently becoming a change of maintenance method.
The published care instruction specifies damp cleaning; it does not approve every steam device, chemical treatment or surface-renewal product. Obtain product-specific guidance before changing the method or trying a treatment advertised as a universal flooring repair.
Protect the floor where furniture touches it
The manual recommends suitable furniture protection, including felt pads, appropriate rollers or skids, and load-distribution pads beneath heavy furniture and appliances. Choose protection for the actual load and movement. Check it during routine cleaning so worn or dirty pads do not remain unnoticed.
For rolling chairs, the manual specifies suitable type-W castors under EN 12529. Confirm the castor type with the chair supplier. The word “soft” in an informal product description is less useful than an identifiable specification.
Avoid rubber or latex mats, furniture feet, castors and protective pads that can stain the floor, as stated in the care manual. When buying a mat or protector, check the underside and material information. A decorative top surface tells you little about what will remain in contact with the flooring.
Plan appliance and heavy-furniture moves with the installer or mover. Use suitable protection and load distribution, and avoid dragging an unprotected load across the surface. If damage appears after a move, record what happened and where; that information helps an assessment without predetermining its outcome.
Keep sunlight and local heat in the care plan
Use suitable blinds, curtains or shading where strong sunlight reaches the floor. The manual recommends controlling exposure to reduce long-term colour change. Keep hot objects away from the surface and do not use heat as an improvised repair technique.
If the floor has underfloor heating, give the occupant the agreed controls and the 27°C maximum floor-surface temperature. Changes to rugs, furniture or room use should be checked against the heating instructions. The heating and sunlight guide explains these checks in more detail.
Document a concern before attempting a repair
A mark, a dent, a damaged edge and an opening joint need different information. Describe what you can see, when it first appeared and whether it is changing. Take an overall room photograph and close-ups with a size reference. Photograph nearby doors, fixed furniture or transitions if they help show the location.
Do not cut out a plank, sand the surface, fill a joint or apply a repair chemical before the appropriate method has been confirmed. The response depends on the locking system, installation layout, access, cause of the concern and replacement material. A generic replacement video cannot establish the correct method for every Kermit installation.
Use this enquiry record to reduce the need for repeated follow-up:
| Item | What to provide |
|---|---|
| Product | Collection, decor, specification and carton or batch label |
| Purchase | Order reference, supplier and delivery date |
| Installation | Fitting date, installer, room and relevant installation records |
| Concern | Location, first observation, extent and any recent change or incident |
| Images | Whole area, close-up, size reference and product label |
| Conditions | Cleaning products, furniture movement, heating or moisture observations |
| Spares | Remaining material, quantity and label details |
Send the record through Kermit contact or the supplier handling your order. Ask for an assessment of the concern and the appropriate next step. Providing this information does not itself determine warranty eligibility, repair cost or the remedy.
Keep spare material identifiable
Discuss spare planks when the order quantity is agreed. There is no universal spare percentage for every layout: the project size, cutting pattern, storage and future maintenance plan all matter. Keep remaining material with its original labels and follow the applicable storage instructions.
Do not assume a later order with the same decor name will be an exact match. Confirm dimensions, specification, locking compatibility and appearance before replacement work is planned. Even a retained spare needs checking against the installed floor's current appearance and condition.
At handover, retain the order record, labels, care instructions, installation information and the warranty terms applicable to the purchase. Current manuals are available in Kermit resources; request the applicable warranty document from the supplier rather than inferring a guarantee from an article or catalogue.
Care and repair questions
How should Kermit SPC flooring be cleaned?
Use a damp cloth or mop with a suitable mild cleaner, following the relevant instructions. Do not hose the floor or leave standing water.
Can rubber-backed mats be used on the floor?
Kermit's care manual advises avoiding rubber and latex materials that can stain the surface, including mats and furniture protection. Check the contact material before choosing them.
Can a damaged SPC plank always be replaced individually?
The method needs assessment for the actual locking system, layout, access and replacement material. Ask the supplier or qualified installer before cutting, lifting or treating a panel.
How long is the warranty?
Request the warranty terms applicable to your product and order. This care guide does not set a warranty duration, claim deadline or guaranteed repair outcome.
